Went just for a day trip.  Had some pictures on the cam, but when taken to photo store they ruined the pictures.  The bear was out digging for food on the trees.  Put out a salt and mineral lick for the animals.

Went to visit for the day.  Temperatures in the 70.  Birds were waiting for food.  They were at the car when opened the door.  Worked on the new bridge across the creek to the side of the hill.  Cleared the land.

Had a visit from the president of the association and talked about things on the mountain.  While talking a red tail hawk flew through the camp site after a blue jay.  The hawk did not get the blue jay for lunch.  The other mate of the hawk was high in the sky overhead.  They were hunting together.

Remembered tails about hawks and blue jay.  Blue jay is a talkative bird always bragging and telling stories about other animals.  Hawks are protectors that give you warnings.  Woodpeckers are good luck.  Have  been in the mountains for over 10 years and never have seen a sight like the hawk and the blue jay.  Maybe the spirits are telling something about the person that was there.  Hear that hunters may have killed two bear.  Have not seen any signs that my bear visitors have been around.  Hope they were not the ones killed.

The big old pine tree fell during the winds weeks ago.  The president said that he moved the tree out the road.  It broke in two big pieces.  The woodpecker that live in the tree all these years came out to get some nuts like the rest of the birds.  The red head usually does not come out in the open.  Think it lost its home and was building a new nest and needed the food.

This was the first visit of 2009.  It was around 60 degrees today a break before the cold.  Put out some food for the other forest friends.  It called for snow the next day so the birds were very active.

MitchTree 2009

Last year was a good year.  This year will bring new views of the mountain and wildlife.  Additional land was purchased and that will be developed along with improvements.  More areas for wildlife to gather and more trails to explore, maybe even a pond.  Look foward to the new and improved MitchTree.

Winter is here.  Made two visits since the last post, but only came up for day trips.  Came up on Friday to get an early start on getting up the leaves.  Weather was good, cool at night.  Had not spent the entire weekend in awhile.  Feeding the birds and animals at night.  The fox made a live visit and brought a friend, saw at least two together.  Took most of the day to get up the leaves.

First vist of the fall season.  Had not been here for few weeks.  Leaves falling and wildlife activity is picking up.  Birds really went after the food.  Bear make a visit and got his corn and it looks like a big male.  Deer moving.  Just stayed a few hours.  A flock of birds flew over.  Next few months will be a lot of activity.

Came up to stay the weekend.  Made 2 day visits early this month but didn’t stay the nights.  Some days were just too hot.  Did not get many pictures because the battery went down on the cam.  Just a few deer pictures.  Moved the cam further in the woods on one of the trails to see what other kind of things can get a picture.  Just cut the grass and cut some firewood and finished the foundation for the new structure and sat around the fire.  Fall is in the air.
